Chrysalis
General Information
The Chrysalis Cooperative, home of the BHC’s first solar project, is a consensus-based vegetarian co-op in a large old house with lots of character. Chrysalis is located in downtown Boulder, one block from Pearl Street. Chrysalians live lightly, buy food together, and share dinners, chores, and good times. Chrysalis values affordable living, environmental sustainability, conscious community, and human diversity.
Food
Chrysalis co-op buys mostly organic and as much local food as possible. Chrysalis serves dinner four to five nights per week and all house meals are vegetarian with a vegan option. While not all Chrysalians are vegetarian, meat is not allowed to be used in the house.
Community Lifestyle
In addition to being a vegetarian house, Chrysalis also does not permit the use of tobacco, drugs, and broadcast television on the premises. Alcohol is enjoyed in moderation. These guidelines are for life in the house itself. They do not necessarily reflect the lifestyles of Chrysalis members, who do whatever they wish away from the house and feel safe coming home at any time.
How to Join:
- Since Chrysalis is low-income housing, prospective residents must income qualify.
- Contact the membership coordinator.
- Join us for dinner to see the house and meet the house members.
- Fill out an application.
- Interview at one of our Sunday night meetings.
- House will use a consensus process and follow all fair housing guidelines in resident selection.
